Emera Beach was introduced on May 27, 2016 as a part of the Big Spring Update. Emera Beach is unlocked at Trainerlevel 12.
To access the Emera Beach, hover over the 'Town' tab, and select 'Emera Beach'.

Fishing

The main feature of the Emera Beach is that it is the perfect fishing spot.
Within this update, a new 'fishing' minigame has been implemented.

The Minigame

When you speak to Leah the Mermaid, she will give you your first fishing rod, the Old Rod .
Now that you have your first rod, you can start playing the minigame. Located here is all your rods, bait, your fish box and your energy level shown as a green bar.

Note: Your fisherman artwork depends on the gender chosen while registering, you can change it on your Profile Settings.

To start fishing you have to throw your rod and wait until an exclamation mark is shown above your character. Select "Pull rod" and start reeling in the Fish-Pokémon. You will see a blue vertical bar with a black mysterious fish and a yellow bar which oscillates up and down. All you need to do is press "Pull" when the yellow bar is directly behind the black fish. When you press it at the right moment, the fish goes up a bit - otherwise, the Fish-Pokémon goes back down.

Depending on the Pokémon, you have a time limit to catch it. If the counter goes down to 0, the fish will escape. Bring the Pokémon to the top of the yellow bar before the time expires to catch it successfully. Using certain baits will increase the time limit to catch each Pokémon.

Your Rods/Baits

Here you can see all your rods and the baits you got

You start off with the Old Rod, to get a better rod you can visit Leah. In exchange for some items and pokémon Leah will give you better rods.

The currently obtainable rods are:

Old Rod An old and beat-up fishing rod. Catches common Fish-Pokémon.
Good Rod A new, good-quality fishing rod. Catches rarer Fish-Pokémon than the Old Rod.
Super Rod An awesome, high-tech fishing rod. Catches very rare Fish-Pokémon.
Shiny Rod A shiny rod. Increases the chance of catching shiny Fish-Pokémon.

You also have the option to use baits while fishing, although you can still catch Fish-Pokémon without them. There are 5 obtainable types of bait with different uses. The Regular, Tasty and Delicious Baits help to keep Fish-Pokémon on the hook for a longer period of time, hence giving you more time to complete the mini-game and catch them. The Shiny Bait increases your chances of attracting Shiny Pokémon while the Magnetic Bait increases the chances of finding items.

All baits can be obtained from Leah the Mermaid in exchange for Fish-Pokemon you have caught.

Fish Box

Fish box showing a normal and shiny Pokemon.

The fish box stores all your caught Fish-Pokémon until you either adopt them, release them or exchange them with Leah the Mermaid.

Shiny pokemom will be separated from any of their normal counterparts you may have caught. Catching mega-ables is also possible, but they won't show in the fish box, so you have to adopt them to see if it's a mega-able or not. The chance to get a mega-able is as high as getting one from the lab or during a shiny chain.

You can only adopt up to 10 Fish-Pokémon from your fish box per day.

There isn't a time limit to adopt them and you can catch as many as you want as they won't disappear.

Pokémon and Items which can be caught

Mainly Fish-like or Water-type Pokémon can be caught on the Beach, the better the rod is, the rarer the Pokémon. The possibilities of catching the Pokémon with a certain rod depends on their rarity.

Thunderstorms

During thunderstorms, the Emera Beach is closed and all features will be unaccessible. This includes the mini-game, Los Seashellos as well as Leah the Mermaid. Players will have to wait for the thunderstorm to pass before being able to access all features again. The weather in Emera Town can be monitored through the Castform Weather channel.

Having the Fisherman Hat allows you to access the mini-game, even during thunderstorms. However, all other features remain unavailable.

Leah the Mermaid

Leah the Mermaid

Leah the Mermaid is an in-game NPC that introduces herself to you and offers to exchange her items for Fish-Pokemon you have caught due to the fact that she, as a mermaid, cannot catch the Fish-Pokemon at Emera Beach herself.

Trading with Leah

An example of a trade Leah will offer

Everyday Leah offers items in exchange for Fish-Pokemon from your Fish Box or other items. She will not accept Fish-Pokemon you have hatched out of eggs and they must come from the beach.

Most of her offers change daily. However, some items, such as Submarine Volcano Maps, will remain on her trading list everyday.

There is no limit to how many times a day you can make a trade with Leah, the only limit is the amount of a Fish-Pokemon species in your Fish Box.
