Mew is a Legendary Pokémon which was available for 2 weeks (01/Jul/2013 to 14/Jul/2013) when the site first opened.
Mew was then obtainable once again if users have obtained a Mew Plushie from the Dream World Shop from 01/July/2014 to 14/July/2014 and 17/July/2015 to 05/Aug/2015. If users had the Mew Plushie, they were able to summon a Mew from the Ancient Cave.
Hatching a Mew egg would not count towards your shiny chain.
