A Destiny Knot is an item used for IV Breeding. It increases the likelihood of passing down IVs from parents to their child egg at the daycare.
How to obtain it
Destiny Knots can be rarely found in Mystery Boxes.
How to use it
Give one (or both) Pokémon you put in the daycare a Destiny Knot to hold in order for it to pass down (partially) its IVs to its eggs.
