The Pal-pad.png Pal Pad is a communication device used to chat privately with other users on PokeHeroes. It is a key item that is free and available for everyone to use.

To find the Pal Pad, there is an orange Pal Pad icon next to the notifications icon near the top right hand corner of the site.

How it works

Clicking on the Pal Pad icon will bring up a list of users. Clicking on a user will open a chat box to initiate a private chat with them. After using the Pal Pad for some time, your recent chats will appear at the top of the list together along with the time passed since whom you've last chatted with, for easy access.

You are also able to close and exit out of conversations with those of whom you don't wish to see. You can do this by hovering over a conversation in your Pal Pad and clicking the "x" you see to the right. Keep in mind that the conversation will pop back up if the other person messages you, and you get notified by them. The same applies if you search the specific user and send them a message.

You can see if a person is online by looking at the small circle next to their username. A green circle Online.png indicates that the person is online, while a grey circle Offline.png indicates that the user is currently offline. Do note, however, that a person's online/offline status may take some time to be updated.

Receiving Messages

New Palpad message
If someone sends you a PalPad message, the Pal Pad icon will light up, indicating that you have received a message. Clicking on the icon shows you your new messages, which will be at the top of the list of users. Users that have sent you messages which you have yet to read will have a red “NEW” label next to their username. If you are also in another tab of your browser, then you will also see "NEW" that will appear on the tab(s) of PokéHeroes when you have received a new/unread Pal Pad message.

Pal Pad Groups

Pal Pad Groups have been introduced on February 2nd, 2019.

Pal Pad Groups allow you to communicate with up to 25 users. You can create your own Groups and also be invited to them as well. The Pal Pad Group chats function similarly to that of chats that are of more privately between 2 users with the exception that it's a conversation between 3 or more members.

Pal Pad Miscellaneous
If you wish to create a Pal Pad Group, then all you have to do is to open your Pal Pad by clicking its icon, then at the bottom of the page/screen you should see what's seen in the Pal Pad Miscellaneous image. You can then click on the middle button that shows that of 3 people.

Pal Pad Group creation
When going to create a group, you can set a Group Title, change your status to being an Admin or a Member, and also tinker around with the Group Admin settings if you wish to do that. For adding other users, all you have to do is enter the name of the user you wish to add in and then click on the "+" button afterwards. Remember that the group isn't created until you hit the "Save changes" button.

After the creation of the group, and when you open the group from your Pal Pad to message in it, you can then click on the name of the group from the chat box to head back into the settings. You can change or set the avatar of the group, but keep in mind that the maximum size of the image you can upload is 2000x2000px (or 1MB). You are also able to add/remove members if you are an Admin with appropriate permissions. Furthermore, you are also able to freely leave a group if you are a member of one by just clicking the "x" to the right of yourself in the Group Settings window.

Pal Pad Settings

For privacy reasons, users may lock their Pal Pads to be accessible to only users on their Friendlist. This can be toggled via “Communication Settings” which can be found at Settings -> Misc. Settings. You may also quickly access these Communication Settings by clicking the button with the cog wheels shown in the Pal Pad Miscellaneous image.

Communication Settings
By locking your Pal Pad, users not on your friendlist can only contact you via Private Message. Similarly, you cannot Pal Pad other users who only accept Pal Pad messages from their friends if you are not on their Friendlist. In order to contact such users, you will also have to send them a Private Message.

Keep in mind with that of Group Chats, you may still be able to read, send and receive messages to those whom that are not on your Friendlist, or you have blocked even with both current settings enabled.

Reporting a User

Remember to follow all site rules when using the Pal Pad. Do not send unnecessary spam or inappropriate content to other users via the Pal Pad. If you have been receiving abuse from another user through Pal Pad, you can use the report button Report icon.png at the top right hand corner of the chat box. A moderator will look into the issue shortly.
